As mentioned on the previous page this was originally a coupe body that the previous owner made a roadster out of. All body parts were dipped to remove rust and paint. Wood was carefully removed and the restoration of the body began by replacing the wood with steel. A great deal of care was taken to assure the fit of the doors and trunk. The inter-structural was engineered to create a roll cage. Doors shown on these pictures have temporary supports and will be designed with crash bars. Since the doors were suicide, special plates in the front and rear were designed to take the weight of the doors and maintain straightness of a roadster body. |

If you view the original pictures of this car before we started restoration, you will notice many of the body lines were eliminated during the painting. Good o'bondo was used to cover the body lines where the fenders suffered from damage. A great deal of effort was made to restore the body lines on the fenders and body. Of course unless you know Chevrolet's you properly would never notice the line missing. The two pictures below show the car before restoration. Now check out the lines. In the picture below check out the square corners on the trunk. Picture in lower right shows the top of the deck lid and painted wood that was used to "finish" the exterior of the rear surround. |
